With the continuous optimization of the power-to-weight ratio mP, the reduction of the sound power level LWA and the improvement of the efficiency η of components such as combustion engines or compressors, the quality requirements for slideways, which are necessary parts of these components, are also increasing. As honing as a manufacturing process with bonded grain meets the requirements for dimensional accuracy GF and surface quality through characteristic intersecting machining marks of slideways, e.g. for piston mounts, this process is used as standard in their production following a previous fine machining by fine turning or grinding. Possible areas of application include medical technology, aviation, the hydraulics and pneumatics industry, automotive engineering and pump and compressor technology. However, the potential of currently available and conventionally used honing stones with a metallic bond is increasingly exhausted according to the current state of the art. In particular, the production of guides with diameters of D ≤ 10mm and guides in thin-walled components with wall thicknesses of dW ≤ 4mm is considerably limited with currently available tools and is also associated with high production costs kF [KLO18, KLI22].
