Increasing quality and performance requirements for precision components are accompanied by growing demands with regard to tools and processes. In the field of grinding technology, the focus is shifting to precision grinding in order to meet the high quality requirements. In precision grinding, increased shape accuracies, high surface qualities and suitable edge zone properties should be able to be reliably produced [1,2]. To meet the high quality demands, special requirements apply to the grinding tools that are used. Wear of the grinding tools on a microscopic and macroscopic level leads to blunting of the cutting grains and deviations of the grinding wheel shape, which influence the grinding process and the quality targets. The choice of the grain material used is decisive for the wear resistance of the grinding tools and the quality of the workpieces to be processed by grinding technology.
