Call for Abstracts: PSE 2026 invites the scientific community to shape the future of Plasma Surface Engineering

The PSE Conferences (International Conference on Plasma Surface Engineering) are among the internationally established leading conferences for research, development, and industrial applications in coating, plasma, and ion beam technologies. PSE 2026 will once again provide a central platform to present and discuss the latest scientific results, technological developments, and industrial applications in the field of plasma surface engineering.

The conference addresses a broad thematic spectrum, ranging from fundamental topics such as plasma modeling and simulation or thin film physics, through experimental studies investigating the relationship between process parameters and the structural and functional properties of surfaces and thin films, to industrial applications in large-scale production.

Thematic Focus of PSE 2026

The scientific core program of the conference includes, among others, the following topic areas:

• Plasma and Ion Sources
  (Low-pressure and atmospheric-pressure plasmas, plasma in liquids, particles and powders in plasmas, power supplies and process control)
• Process Technologies
  (Plasma treatment, cleaning and etching, diffusion technologies, PVD, PECVD, ALD, post-process treatments)
• Properties and Applications
  (Protective and tribological coatings, optical, electronic and magnetic coatings, biomedical and agricultural applications, energy and environmental technologies, gas conversion, and mobility)
• Characterization and Simulation
  (Plasma and process diagnostics, modeling of film growth, AI-based and predictive modeling)

These topics form the core of the conference and will be discussed in three to four parallel sessions.

Special Sessions, Workshops and Discussion Formats

The core program is complemented by workshops and special sessions organized by dedicated experts, addressing current research trends and results from larger collaborative projects. The Partner Country Session on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, will present the Plasma Surface Engineering community from Spain and Portugal (IBERIA).

Extended workshops will focus on selected key topics, including:

• Industrial Workshop: Surface Engineering for Clean Energy Solutions
• Trend Workshop: Thin Films and Micro Structuring Methods for Integrated Smart Systems
• Invited Session: Thin Film Metallic Glasses

A particularly interactive format is the panel discussion
“Critical Decision Factors and the Role of Cleaning Before Coating Applications”, offering practical insights from industry and application perspectives. Additional highlights include specialized tutorials, which will open the conference program.
