A fresh approach to turnkey expertise
How MAPAL accelerates processes, reduces risks and ensures future-proofing with integrated manufacturing solutions
Turnkey solutions are becoming increasingly important in modern manufacturing. They represent holistic approaches in which a solution provider assumes full responsibility for the planning, implementation and optimisation of a manufacturing process.
Project analysis and process design: Based on feasibility and cycle time analyses, MAPAL works with the customer to develop the optimal machining process and define the appropriate clamping concept
This is not just about supplying individual components, but about the intelligent integration of machines, tools, fixtures and digital services. A well-thought-out turnkey concept therefore offers customers maximum efficiency, minimal interfaces and a high level of investment security – particularly in times of complex requirements and rising quality standards. As a full-service provider, MAPAL meets these criteria without exception.
MAPAL manufactures bespoke clamping fixtures in-house; from 3D and 2D design through to production and assembly, right through to dimensional and functional testing, collision analysis and comprehensive technical documentation
Comprehensive expertise under one roof
For Stephan Köstler, Senior Director of Product & Service Management, the particular strength of MAPAL’s approach lies in its ability to integrate all key disciplines: from process analysis, through tool and fixture design, to simulation, programming and production support. The ability to take full responsibility for entire processes is a key differentiating factor. “We don’t just supply components – we deliver a functioning production line,” he says.
The benefits for customers are clear: less organisational complexity, lower risk and a faster start to production. Industries with high quality requirements, complex components and tight tolerances benefit particularly – such as the automotive sector, including the e-mobility industry, fluid technology, mechanical engineering and aerospace. These are all key sectors for MAPAL.
MAPAL defines the optimal tool technology and delivers complete solutions, from design through production and pre-adjustment to the documented delivery of tool sets ready for installation
Turnkey solutions deliver results quickly
Taking responsibility for the process provides the customer with planning certainty and lays the foundation for well-informed investment decisions. MAPAL provides relevant return on investment metrics: significantly reduced start-up times, stable CPK values from day one, lower tooling and process costs thanks to tools and cutting parameters optimally tailored to the process and coordinated with one another, as well as clearly documented progress throughout all project phases. Through reference projects, MAPAL can demonstrate how quickly turnkey solutions deliver results and pay for themselves.
MAPAL provides support in the form of cycle time studies, NC programme creation, simulation and collision checking, and optimises parameters and programme structures specifically to ensure a stable and cost-effective machining process
From project analysis to production ramp-up
MAPAL offers a comprehensive service package for complete machining processes – from feasibility studies and process design right through to series production. The optimal machining solutions are defined as early as the initial project phase, based on cycle time analyses and feasibility assessments.
Building on this, the machining process is designed using the most cost-effective machining technology, and the tools are supplied ready for use. Simulations, NC programme generation and collision checks ensure a high level of process stability even before the tools are put into actual use.
As a central element of every turnkey project, MAPAL develops and manufactures the appropriate clamping fixtures. The entire implementation – from design through production to delivery ready for use, including dimensional and functional testing, collision analysis and comprehensive technical documentation – is handled by a single source. This is underpinned by the company’s in-house expertise and capacity in fixture manufacturing.
MAPAL also relies on a complete 3D simulation chain. The fixture is digitally embedded in the real machine environment, and all tools and NC programmes are checked for collisions. Detailed reports, 3D visualisations and close reviews with the customer ensure a smooth production ramp-up without any surprises.
Process validation and production ramp-up: MAPAL supports the start of series production, from CPK analysis through to documented customer acceptance and series production approval, right through to training for operating staff, as well as maintenance and support services
Further digital development of the turnkey approach
With an eye to the future, MAPAL is expanding its turnkey approach to include further digital services. The PRODaaS (already completed) and PRODaaS@SCALE research initiatives are working on intelligently feeding real-time process data back into the planning process. The aim: adaptive, transparent and even more efficient processes.
