GrindingHub 2024: Vollmer with four newcomers on board

28. February 2024

In May, the international trade fair GrindingHub 2024 will open its doors in Stuttgart. The Swabian sharpening specialist Vollmer will showcase its portfolio of automated grinding, erosion, and laser machines, services, and digital V@dison solutions at its booth in Hall 5 Stand D71. Four Vollmer innovations will premiere at the event: a filtration system for cooling oil and dielectric, two erosion machines for PKD circular saws, and a solution for grinding pCBN tools. Additionally, Vollmer subsidiary companies Loroch and ultraTEC innovation will also exhibit their machines at GrindingHub.

For the second time since 2022, the GrindingHub trade fair, which has established itself as an international hub for grinding technologies and superfinishing, will take place. The Biberach-based sharpening specialist Vollmer will be present in Stuttgart from May 14th to 17th, 2024. As a full-liner, the globally operating Vollmer Group, along with its subsidiaries Loroch and ultraTEC innovation, covers various production technologies for processing rotary tools as well as circular and band saws made of ultra-hard cutting materials with high precision.

Coolant Filtration and Precise pCBN Machining

For the first time at GrindingHub, Vollmer will introduce its VFS 400 filtration system. Visitors to the fair can experience live demonstrations of the space-saving system performing fine filtration of cooling oil or dielectric during the sharpening process. Up to two Vollmer sharpening machines can be connected to the VFS 400 depending on the machine type. Vollmer's second innovation is a feature for the VGrind 360S grinding machine. With an optional dressing unit for the grinding wheel, tools made of the ultra-hard cutting material pCBN (polycrystalline cubic boron nitride) can now be ground in two machining steps - roughing followed by high-precision finishing. PCBN machining is possible with the VGrind 360S due to its high system rigidity and linear motor drive of the X, Y, and Z axes, enabling oscillating tool processing. Also showcased at the Vollmer booth are the VHybrid 260 grinding and erosion machine and the VLaser 370 laser machine. The VFS 400 filtration system is connected to the two grinding machines CHX 840 and CS 860, which sharpen carbide-tipped circular saws. Various automations demonstrate how tool manufacturers can use Vollmer machines unmanned and around the clock.

Machines for PKD Circular Saws and Services

Another announcement at GrindingHub is the QS 860 and QSF 860 erosion machines, which can process PKD-tipped (polycrystalline diamond) circular saws. Although the machines will not be present in Stuttgart, Vollmer will provide information about them both digitally and in personal discussions. The trade fair presentation is complemented by the introduction of services for maintenance, servicing, training, financing, and digitization. This includes the services of the digital initiative V@dison, including the V@ boost solution "Performance Package for VHybrid 260" or the customer portal VPortal.

In addition to its own machines, Vollmer will also showcase the products and services of its subsidiaries Loroch and ultraTEC innovation. Loroch will bring the three sharpening machines TWIN 860, Solution K850-T, and KSC 710 to Stuttgart. UltraTEC innovation will provide information about its ultrasonic deburring systems, which enable contactless deburring of metal or plastic components.

"The GrindingHub is the central trade fair for us as sharpening specialists to present our innovations for tool processing to the international trade audience and to engage in intensive exchange with our customers," says Jürgen Hauger, CEO of the Vollmer Group.
