Seal ribs are geometrically complex structural elements in engine components. Machining them places high demands on the tool, cutting material, and cooling: The materials are heat-resistant, prone to built-up edge formation, and place heavy stress on the tools used. ISCAR addresses this challenge with its CUT-GRIP tools, which are specifically designed for this task.

The new GIFA cutting inserts are precision-ground and made from the wear-resistant and heat-resistant IC806 cutting material grade. Equipped with an A-chip breaker, they reduce cutting forces, enable controlled chip evacuation, deliver superior surface finishes, and minimize temperature rise. The inserts are available in cutting widths of 1.5 and 2 millimeters, as well as in left-hand, right-hand, and neutral versions.
 

The robust CGPADFIN-CUT-GRIP adapters secure the cutting inserts using a fixed screw clamp. The insert seat conforms to the shape of the insert, which increases stability during engagement. Coolant guided through the tool is directed precisely to the cutting zone, reducing thermal stress and extending tool life. The adapters are designed for both left- and right-hand tool holders and accommodate various insert configurations.
