New specialists for the standard program
Walter expands PKD milling cutter portfolio for aluminum
With new PKD milling cutters, Walter reinforces its expertise in machining non-ferrous metals. Since PKD tools are often custom solutions, the introduction of the solid MP271 and MP470 cutters also expands Walter’s ISO N standard range. The three-edged MP271 slot drill (Ø 16–25 mm) features a segmented cutting length of 30 mm and a center cutting edge, making it ideal for deep cuts such as trimming. Its uneven tooth pitch helps reduce vibration. The two-edged MP470 ball-nose cutter (Ø 4–16 mm) is designed for creating and finishing freeform surfaces. Both tools are tailored for ISO N materials such as aluminum, Al-Si alloys, magnesium alloys, copper alloys, or fiber-reinforced composites. Walter’s proprietary PKD grade WDN20 can significantly increase tool life in many applications. Thanks to their brazed PKD cutting edges, both tools can be reconditioned—enhancing sustainability, reducing cutting material costs, and improving overall cost-efficiency. Their specific features make these PKD cutters particularly attractive for aluminum machining in general engineering, as well as in the automotive and aerospace industries.
