Röders: HIGH TECH FOR PRECISION – 3 New Machines at EMO
Even more precise—can it really be done in such a short time? With its new RPT machines, Röders has once again significantly increased the achievable precision compared to the initial launch of the RPT series two years ago. This applies in particular to 5-axis applications. It is not only fundamental specifications such as a positioning uncertainty of P < 1 μm that make the new RPT machines stand out at EMO. In addition, workpieces impress with surfaces produced in the single-digit nanometer range—in record time.
Röders is presenting three new machines at EMO, including a smaller 5-axis model, the RPT450DS, where compact design directly contributes to exceptionally high precision. A robust chuck on the 5-axis table ensures low-vibration machining, even during roughing. Various spindles with a maximum of HSK E40 enable highly versatile applications. Air-bearing spindles make it possible to achieve exceptionally high surface qualities—in steel below 10 nm—within impressive machining times.
The RPT600DSH is being introduced with a new rotary-swivel unit variant for larger chucks, such as Erowa UPC. This makes the machine particularly well-suited for moldmaking, where workpieces tend to be wider rather than taller. It is equally ideal for numerous production applications, thanks in part to the wide selection of spindles available, up to HSK A63 tool holders.
For the first time, Röders is also presenting an even larger model, the RPT800DSH, as a dual-spindle machine. Equipped with a main spindle running at 36,000 rpm with an HSK E50 interface and an air-bearing spindle at 60,000 rpm, the machine offers highly versatile use and is capable of achieving steel surface finishes in the single-digit nanometer range in just one setup.

As is customary at Röders, all machines will be demonstrated live in cutting operations. Thanks to the PRECITEMP® technology, they remain zero-point stable and thus highly precise despite temperature fluctuations in the exhibition halls. “Anyone looking for the highest precision is in the right place with Röders,” summarizes Jürgen Röders, Managing Director of Röders GmbH. “Hall 12, Stand C06 is well worth a visit!”
